Pixii dispensers installed by double sided tape have been tested thousands of times in all sorts of conditions. The tape is strong enough to hold the dispenser firmly to the wall IF you follow all instructions. Failing to clean the wall, hold the dispenser in place for long enough or ignoring any other step MAY RESULT in your dispenser falling from the wall and being damaged.
Yippee! You've got a new Pixii dispenser. Nice!
Let's get it up on your wall.
The rest of these instructions apply to installing your premium model dispenser, with the pre-applied double sided tape. For standard dispensers, please see here.
To install with screws, please use a masonry drill bit 6mm, and panhead screws.
Step 1 - Understand Risks
- You will be installing your dispenser with double sided tape. It's industrial strength so is difficult to unstick by design. When used on painted surfaces, paint damage on removal is to be expected.
- You will be installing the MOUNTING PLATE now and hanging the dispenser on it LATER. Do not fill hang the entire dispenser immediately, it's best to let the adhesive in the tape set for 24 hours before adding the weight of the dispenser or filling it with a pad or tampon packet.
- If your space experiences big fluctuations in temperature or humidity (e.g. it is open-air or not air-conditioned), you may need to add some liquid nails or similar to help the double-sided tape, before sticking the dispenser up. Check the liquid nails pack for suitability with acrylic and your substrate (tile, concrete etc) before use.
Step 2 - Out of the Box
- Use the fingerholes to carefully remove the protective cardboard packaging.
- Use two hands to remove the dispenser from the packaging.
- You’ll see the mounting plate screwed to the back of the dispenser. Unscrew the mounting plate from the dispenser using the included hex key.
Step 3 - Find the Position
- Allow space around other amenities - don't position the dispenser uncomfortably close to a sink or hand dryer, for instance.
- Check the dispenser is not behind a swinging door that might knock it.
- The bottom of the mounting plate should be between 1100mm and 1300mm from the floor for accessibility.
Step 3 - Prep the Surface
- The wall surface must be flat and smooth. If your wall is bumpy, uneven or rough, please use liquid nails or screws - don't rely entirely on the tape.
- Do not put dispensers on a mirror.
Mounting on a mirror requires a special adhesive, not supplied.
- Prep the surface by cleaning with the supplied isopropyl alcohol wipes or any isopropyl alcohol cleaner
- Wait! Allow a minute at least for the alcohol cleaner to evaporate.
Step 4 - Install the Mounting Plate
- Attach the flat side of the plate to the wall.
- If using the double-sided tape, peel off the backing tape and stick the plate up. Hold and press the dispenser firmly but gently against the wall for at least 30 seconds while the glue sets.
- If using screws, screw them in the four holes in the plate (screws not included).
If you're using the tape, you'll need to wait at least 24 hours for the tape to safely adhere to the wall before you do the next step.
Step 5 - Install the Dispenser
- Empty the dispenser - if your dispenser was shipped with a packet of pads or tampons already inside, remove it.
- Attach the dispenser to the mounting plate - line up the hooks on the mounting plate with the back of the dispenser frame. Slide it down from the top. It should fit snugly against the plate. This is easiest to do with the dispenser door OPEN so you can see the mounting plate.
- Screw the plate and dispenser back together - using the same hole as before, insert the screw from the front and tighten it with the hex key.
- Once it's tight, the dispenser should be firmly attached and can't be removed without unscrewing it.
- Fill and enjoy - you're done! Walk away smiling, knowing you're helping prevent period panic in another place.
- Good job 💚👍
Recommended: use a spirit level to ensure it's straight.
Opening and closing the dispenser door
To open the door, look for the small tab in the center, right above the tray.
- Pull the tab forward to release the latch, then find an edge to gently pull the door out slightly and rotate it open.
- To close it, just rotate it back, shift it sideways to align it, and push until you hear it click.
