Pixii dispensers installed by double sided tape have been tested thousands of times in all sorts of conditions. The tape is strong enough to hold the dispenser firmly to the wall IF you follow all instructions. Failing to clean the wall, hold the dispenser in place for long enough or ignoring any other step MAY RESULT in your dispenser falling from the wall and being damaged.
Yippee! You've got some new Pixii dispensers. Nice!
Let's get them up on your wall.
The rest of these instructions apply to installing your standard model dispenser, with the pre-applied double sided tape. For premium dispensers, see here.
To install with screws, please use a masonry drill bit 6mm, and panhead screws.
Step 1 - Understand Risks
- You will be installing your dispenser with double sided tape. It's industrial strength so is difficult to unstick by design. When used on painted surfaces, paint damage on removal is to be expected.
- You will be installing the dispenser now and filling it LATER. Do not fill the dispenser immediately, it's best to let the adhesive in the tape set for 24 hours before adding the weight of a pad or tampon packet.
- If your space experiences big fluctuations in temperature or humidity (e.g. it is open-air or not air-conditioned), you may need to add some liquid nails or similar to help the double-sided tape, before sticking the dispenser up. Check the liquid nails pack for suitability with acrylic and your substrate (tile, concrete etc) before use.
Step 2 - Find the Position
- Allow space around other amenities - don't position the dispenser uncomfortably close to a sink or hand dryer, for instance.
- check the dispenser is not behind a swinging door that might knock it.
- the bottom of the dispenser should be between 1100mm and 1300mm from the floor, for accessibility.
- allow 35cm clearance above the dispenser so it can be restocked.
- allow a few cm clearance between the two dispensers if installing in a pair.
Step 3 - Prep the Surface
The wall surface must be flat and smooth. If your wall is bumpy, uneven or rough, please use liquid nails or screws - don't rely entirely on the tape.
Do not put dispensers on a mirror. Mounting on a mirror requires a special adhesive, which is not supplied.
- Prep the surface by cleaning with the supplied isopropyl alcohol wipes or any isopropyl alcohol cleaner
- Wait! Allow a minute at least for the alcohol cleaner to evaporate.
Step 4 - Put it up 👌
- Empty the dispenser - if your dispenser was shipped with a packet of pads or tampons already inside, remove it. This will reduce the weight while the glue is still activating.
- Peel and stick - peel off the backing tape. Stick the dispenser up.
- Hold - hold and press the dispenser firmly but gently against the wall for at least 30 seconds while the glue sets.
- Fill and enjoy - you're done! BEST TO WAIT 24 HOURS if you can, then fill it up with a packet of period products. Then walk away smiling, knowing you're helping prevent period panic in another place.
- Good job 💚👍
